WHAT ARE WE DOING? May 18-22
Bible Study: After Jesus ascended into heaven, the disciples went to work spreading
the Gospel message to people around the world. Our lessons this week will include the
story of "Philip and the Ethiopian", "Peter And The Crippled Man", "Tabitha",
and "Cornelius". As we look at the lives of these early disciples, we are reminded of
how important it is to live our lives as witnesses of the great love and forgiveness
God has given to each of us.
Reading: This week's the students will be reading a realistic fiction story
called "Jingle Dancer". The students will be reminded that good readers always are
aware of the characters, setting, and plot of a story. Good readers also link what
they know about topics or situations to what is happening in a story.
Grammar: The students will tice identifying paragraphs in their reading as well as
learning to compose a well written paragraph in their writing.
Spelling: The students will be spelling words with the prefixes mid- and mis- by
thinking of the prefix they hear and then the base word that follows it. They will
also be aware of how attaching a prefix to a base word can change the meaning of that
base word.
Math: The studetns will be recording information on a graph; conduct a probability
experiment; test on multiplication facts of 2, 3, 4; and, test on concepts covered in
the last two weeks. They will also review concepts such as addition and subtraction
with regrouping, telling time, working on word problems, and doing some brain teasers.
