Our Mission
The mission of St. Francis de Sales School is to educate each student in a spirit of faith and academic excellence according to Roman Catholic principles. As part of a caring, disciplined community, our school, in partnership with parents, nurtures and challenges each student to develop to his or her fullest potential.
St. Francis de Sales is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department, and is a member of the NCEA, NCTM, NCTSS, GHARC, and NAGT. The school is conveniently located in southwest Houston, between US 59 South and the Sam Houston Tollway, within one mile of St. Agnes Academy and Strake Jesuit High Schools. St. Francis de Sales School is a member of the Houston Area Independent Schools (HAIS).

In a candle ceremony on May 13th, the graduating 8th grade class passed on the Torch of Leadership to the 7th grade class. Each 7th grade student received a candle as a symbol of the light of leadership which will be upheld by them. On May 20th, a special graduation Mass was held, at which Coach Q spoke words of encouragement for our departing 8th grade class. After Mass, forty one 8th grade students walked across the stage to receive their diplomas. They are departing for sixteen different area high schools, including St. Agnes, Strake Jesuit, St. Thomas, Incarnate Word, and Pope John XXIII.

New Website Design Coming After Labor Day
Beginning after Labor Day, our SFdS website will have a new look; same web address - www.sfdsschool.org. The new Edline design will allow you to go directly to your child's class subject pages, see progress reports, and get a combined calendar for the school and your child's classes. In order for you to view these, you will need to activate your account. Activation codes will be sent home Wednesday, September 7th. Parents will receive an activation code for each child. You must activate each of the accounts, but Edline will give you the option when entering additional activation codes to "combine" your accounts. VIRTUS: Keeping the Promise Alive Recertification Program
The Archdiocese has begun a recertification program for employees and volunteers trained in the original program, Protecting God's Children during 2003 - 2005. Only those who attended the original Protecting God's Children from 2003-2005 will need to take the refresher class this year. School staff and volunteers should take the recertification program between August 11th and December 31st. SFdS School will be holding the following recertification sessions: Aug 17th @ 7pm, Aug 24th @ 7 pm, Aug 31st @ 8:15 am, Sept 12th @ 7pm, Sept 19th @ 8:15 am, Sept 26th @ 7p. VIRTUS: Safe Environment Protecting God's Children Information and Registration
Volunteers who assist with school activities on a regular basis must attend VIRTUS: Protecting God's Children Workshop (Safe Environment Program) and successfully complete a background clearance prior to engaging in volunteer services. “Regular contact” with children here at St. Francis de Sales School includes, for example, volunteering or visiting in classrooms (i.e., class party helper, field trip chaperone, parent reader), for carline, for selling concessions at sporting events, and even to have lunch with your child and his or her friends.
You do not have to take the workshop at St. Francis. Several locations are available throughout the diocese. You may follow the link or log onto www.virtus.org to register.

Back to School Wish List Item
The school would love to have both a Papal flag and an Archdiocesan flag to use in our flag/prayer ceremonies as well as display in our newly renovated office area. The cost of each flag, including pole and stand, is approximately $250 each.
