Local author Ellen Leventhal visited with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Ms. Leventhal is the co-author of the book Don’t Eat the Bluebonnets, which features Sue Ellen, a sassy cow. In the book, Sue Ellen must solve the problem of bringing the bluebonnets back to her favorite pasture after eating all of the flowers the previous year, despite the warning from Max, the longhorn. Ms. Leventhal and her co-author, Ellen Rothberg, are hoping to spread Sue Ellen’s message about respect for nature. During the presentation, Ms. Leventhal read her book and discussed appreciation for the environment. At the end of the hour, as an expression of gratitude for sharing her time, Ms. Leventhal was presented with a picture of all the students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
