Who can take Auto Technology?
The program is open to all 10-12 grade students in the Auburn
School District. Students from Auburn Riverside, Auburn
Mountainview and West Auburn, must provide their own transportation
and attend a minimum of 2 hours per day.

What are the job opportunities for students completing the Program?
Presently there are hundreds of opportunities right here in the
Puget Sound Area. We are in need of students with good reading
skills, a mechanical apptitude and a desire to work with their heads
as well as their hands, for our AYES Internship program.
--------------------------------------
What is Auto YES?
This is a program where the student has the opportunity to study
his/her skills at AHS and then put those skills to work while
working at a local dealership or independant repair facility. This
is an opportunity for local shops to "grow their own technician" and
for the students to work, and earn money while practicing his/her
skills studied at AHS. This is allowing many students to begin
their careers while in High School, and mastering their skills in
class.
--------------------------------------
What if I just want to work on my own veicle as a class project?
Students will be required to qualify for "Contract Study" and then
draft a semester plan /contract and submit it
to the instructor. Upon approval of the plan, students may work
in areas they have already successfully studied and completed.
Then the semester grade will be evaluated compared to the plan
and goals accomplishments.

Why is the program becoming so limited and hard to get into?
The Auburn School District made the decision to NOT duplicate the
Automotive Program in its other comprehensive high schools, but to
rather offer this program as the District Program. Qualifying
students are allowed to travel to Auburn High School and become
our "shared students" in this program. Presently, we begin the
screening with eight students who submit an application from each
high school to fill each class with 24 students. We are looking for
students with a desire to learn this trade, or at least take it
seriously and make a valuable experience out of the class.
