Welcome To Our Team!

Welcome to Second Grade, Pod C-2,
Home of Mrs. T's Second Grade All-Stars!

Maple Elementary is a Kindergarten - Grade 5
Elementary School in the Seattle School District.
460+ terrific students are on Maple's roster!

Maple's home plate is located in South Seattle, tucked
into a cozy neighborhood in the Beacon Hill area.
Maple School sits on a hill overlooking Boeing Field/King County Airport
and Interstate 5.
You can read all about Maple's All-Stars in this front page
article
featured in the Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005 edition of the
Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper.
     On Dec. 19, 2007, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer featured Maple's All-Stars
in another article! You can read the article here.

Maple's "stadium" recently underwent a major remodeling project! To

On September 22, 2006, the U.S. Department of Education
announced that Maple was a recipient of the Blue Ribbon Schools
Award! The award was presented at a special assembly by Cindy
Williams, on behalf of the Secretary of Education, Margaret Spellings.
Ms. Williams travelled from Washington, D.C. to present this award
to the students and staff. On hand at the assembly were the Franklin
High School Pep Band, as well as many special guests, school board
directors, dignitaries, and members of the media. It was a very exciting
day, and all of those who are a part of the Maple family were honored
and humbled to be the recipient of such a prestigious award! It was
just like winning the World Series!

You can read the official press releases
here  and here.

Maple School was featured in a Dept. of Education video
on January 15, 2008! Filming was done throughout the school,
including in our classroom. You can watch the video
here.

Our 2011-2012 second grade team has 24 fantastic
members (12 girls and 12 boys)!
Some of our favorite things to do are use our classroom
computers every day, follow the Seattle Mariners baseball team,
publish and share our own books, make projects,
write to our second grade pen pals in New Braunfels, Texas, and
use our classroom computers.
