REINDEER FUN!
We learned all about reindeer! We read the
book "Watching Reindeer in Europe", written by Elizabeth Miles (This is a
fascinating book! The C-2 All-Stars highly recommend it!). The students wrote
reindeer facts on their whiteboards. Then they created Tree Maps, and used
them to write paragraphs about reindeer. Finally, we made the most adorable
reindeer to go with our writing! We visited Principal Hunter and the Maple
Front Office to show off our hard work, and Principal Hunter congratulated us
with a brand new pencil and a red vine!

"FROG AND TOAD" FIELD
TRIP
On Dec. 16 (last day of school before the
Winter Break began), the students in C-2 and C-3 took a field trip to the
Seattle Children's Theater to watch a live musical performance of "Frog and
Toad All Year". It was a magical, wonderful play - as good as anything you
would see on Broadway! (We were not allowed to take any photographs inside of
the theatre.) A special thank you to all of our parent chaperones, and to
Veronica's mom, who brought a snack for all of the children to eat while
waiting to enter the theater! When we got back to Maple, we had a "Picnic In
The Pod" and ate our sack lunches at our desks! What a fun day and a great way
to begin the vacation!
"ALL ABOUT FROGS"
PROJECT
We learned all about frogs (in preparation
for our field trip to see "Frog and Toad All Year" at the Seattle Children's
Theater)! We read the book "Frogs" by Gail Gibbons, and the students took
notes on their whiteboards. Then they created Tree Maps with their facts. We
used our Tree Maps to write paragraphs about frogs. Finally, we made the
cutest frogs to go with our writing! Of course, we had to visit Principal
Hunter and the Maple Front Office staff to share our fantastic work!
MAKING GINGERBREAD
HOUSES
The students had a wonderful time making
some very colorful and creative gingerbread houses during the last week of
school before the Winter Break! The students were very excited to take their
gingerbread houses home to share with their families.
SNOWFLAKE PROJECT
LEARNING ABOUT OTHER
CULTURES
C Pod Students thoroughly enjoyed
presentations about the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti,
by college students who are friends of Ms. King (the C-3 teacher). We learned
about each country's food, holidays, language, flag, cities, music, arts, and
more!
