MAPLE BARBECUE

The annual Maple Barbecue lunch was held on May 13. There was a huge turnout of friends and family to the barbecue, and the weather was beautiful! The barbecue was a success thanks to the many volunteers on hand who cooked the hamburgers, served the food, etc. Thank you, volunteers! Thank you, also, to Peaks Frozen Custard, for donating a frozen custard cone for every child! Yummy!

"EAT BETTER, FEEL BETTER" NUTRITION LESSON

SCIENCE - LIQUIDS UNIT

Our spring science unit was the study of Liquids. The students examined the properties of three different liquids - water, corn syrup, and vegetable oil - and conducted a variety of experiments with each liquid.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM

The C-2 All-Stars participated in the Jr. Achievement program, "Our Community", throughout the month of May. We had a terrific volunteer instructor from Wells Fargo Bank. The students have been learning about many important parts of their community: businesses, government, taxes, unit production and assembly line production, making good choices, and the role of money in the community. Of the five lessons in the "Our Community" program, the favorite lesson was the one in which we learned the difference between unit production and assembly line production by making paper doughnuts! We celebrated the end of the unit by eating real doughnuts!
