What's New With The C-2 All-Stars

Dear C-2 Students and Families,
    I want to wish all of you a very Happy New Year! The students
are so glad to be back at school, and have been working very hard.  
We have been learning about the life of  Dr. Martin Luther King, 
Jr. in class, and also enjoyed a wonderful assembly to honor Dr. King 
on Friday, Jan. 13.  We have also been studying children's author,
Kevin Henkes, which has been lots of fun!  (Ask your child about
some of the books that Kevin Henkes has written...)
    There is no school on Monday, Jan. 16, and there is a school district
"furlough day" early dismissal coming up on Tuesday, Jan. 24 (please 
be sure to read the red letter that came home with your child this week 
to learn more about the furlough day).  There is also no school on Friday,
Jan. 27. 
    Snow is in the forecast for the Seattle area - be sure to check your
local news for updates about school delays/closures.

Thank you, everyone, for ordering from Scholastic's SeeSaw and Lucky
Book Clubs in January!  We earned 15 books for our classroom
library because of your generosity.  WOW!  Hooray!  Thank you 
SO much!  Mrs. T. & kids :)

Your child took the Measures of Academic Progress (M.A.P.) Test 
in mid-December.  Here are two websites for extra practice this 
school year on the skills that will tested on the M.A.P. test in May:

Is your child using XtraMath.org at home to practice their math
facts?  Your child recently brought home their XtraMath password
in their weekly Boomerang envelope.  If you need help with logging
on to XtraMath.org, please let me know.  Click on the XtraMath picture
below to log in!

Study Island is available for your child to use at home! Your
child recently brought home their Study Island Username and 
Password in their Boomerang Envelope (it was on a sheet of bright 
yellow paper).  You can click on the picture of Study Island to go 
directly to the website!

Thanks to the generous donors who visited Adopt-A-Classroom.org 
and adopted the C-2 All-Stars, I was able to purchase a
beautiful new large, colorful carpet for the "All-Stars Dugout" 
meeting area (See the photo below.)!  Thank you, donors!  
You are wonderful!

Tops for Education!  Bring them to school in a baggie and add them 

to the box on Mrs. Trudnowski's desk!
